STUFF I DID AT SCHOOL
Panda Express – "Just Cuz it Ain't Real..."
Let’s be honest, Panda Express isn’t exactly “authentic.” Most of their menu is about as Chinese as Play-Doh. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It still tastes good. Everyone will agree. Panda Express needs to embrace it’s inauthenticity, and remind America that there’s no dignity in claiming to be what you aren’t. It wouldn’t hurt either to remind America that bacon’s finally on the menu.
MyFonts – "A Type for Every Type"
Most people have a vague awareness of how myriad different fonts look, but most of them probably have no idea of the storied histories a lot of these fonts have. We aim to fix this in a series of 15-second commercials that detail the legacies of various fonts that could be found on MyFonts. We hope to make people realize that there truly is a “Type for Every Type”
Foursight – "For Life"
When you’re looking for glasses you’re looking for frames that suit your face. There’s no reason that those frames can’t be the frames you wear for any occasion. Foursight allows just that. They provide the wearer with the oppurtunity to dress however they want for a variety of occasions– all you have to do is switch out the lenses. Whatever you wear them for, you can wear them for life.
Zillow – "The houses you need..."
People may not know about the service Zillow provides, so step one is to create something that people would care about enough to share– something that doesn’t seem like an ad, but that can subtly address what Zillow is capable of. Given the site’s data-heavy nature, an infographic was the perfect fit. By focusing on the housing market in San Francisco I was able to make San Franciscans care and share my analysis of the data I took from Zillow.
The Bold Italic – Outside Lands
The Bold Italic hopes to be the ultimate lifestyle magazine for San Franciscans. With that in mind we decided that an Outside Lands-based web portal would be just the thing the site needs. It would house not only serious articles about the event but also entertaining content to drive traffic to the portal.
Obesity – Digital Wallets for Physical Health
The Young Glory brief said to address obesity & technology and to "keep it simple." The animation addresses the prevelance of obesity in first-world youth. 1 in 3 are overweight. This is a problem that can be solved with digital wallets. When children finish school and they’ve got money left over, it’s probably not enough for any meaningful purchase. Small bills can only get you small snacks. But if the children have a chance turn their physical cash into digital money, then they’d be more likely to abstain from snacks, to pad their wallets.
The animation discusses the fact that mobile “free to play” games require the user to spend exceptional amounts of time on them, unless they decided to spend real-world money on the apps instead. Thus, if kids were able to put their left over lunch money towards digital purchases, and if parents would pay them digitally for physical activity, then our children would not only be healthier but mor productive as well.
